about.

Alison Griffin's work centres around her obsession with childhood memories and experiences which she uses to explore her interaction with her everyday surroundings. Utilising photographs, memorabilia and dream events, she creates unsettling images with an uncanny and often nightmarish aesthetic.

Griffin graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2012 with a BA (Hons) in Fine art, where her work was described by Jonathan Jones of The Guardian as ‘curious and memorable’ when he saw it at the final year show, and referred to her large-scale piece ‘Behind Every Window Lies Another Hidden Story’ as a "brilliantly authoritative" drawing.

Griffin has exhibited in a number of group shows around London and the UK, including a month long residency at Yinka Shonibare's Guest Projects with XAP’s “Psychotropic House” (2014) and Radiant Gallery’s “Not Here” exhibition in Plymouth (2016). She was selected for the Clyde & Co. Art Award in 2012 as part of their Community Investment programme to support and mentor emerging artists. In 2016, she won the artsdepot Open prize and was also selected to take part in the Black Swan Arts Open by a judging panel including artist Gavin Turk and Lucy McDonald, Associate Director of Hauser and Wirth. She has previously worked with Eyestorm and continues to exhibit regularly with Cavaliero Finn.

Griffin currently lives and works in London.
